Coughing is the common problem that affects the body often. Especially in winter, you tend to have phlegm filled lungs which block not just your wind pipe but also cause tremendous irritation in your throat. In case you experience severe, uncontrolled repeated cough, it is better to consult your physician. This kind of cough will lead to severe illness if left unattended. The illnesses one can be in risk of are pneumonia, influenza and chronic bronchitis. If you are suffering from a common cold and cough you can try some acupressure points to relieve yourself from cough.
If you use these techniques along with your cough medication they will be extremely effective. When you are having a coughing fit, many of the muscles in your upper back can go into a spasm. Some particular points on the upper back, throat, neck and chest, help to relieve coughs, relax your body and benefit the respiratory system in many ways.

Cough Relief with the Help of Pressure Points:
Accessing these pressure points will help you get better quickly. It is not important to use all the pressure points mentioned. Accessing just one or two pressure points whenever you have a free hand will be perfect!
Heaven Rushing Out:
This effective pressure point is a large hollow which can be found right under the Adam’s apple. Place your index finger on the pressure point and apply pressure for 2 to 3 minutes. Do this 3 to 4 times every day, whenever you feel congestion in your throat. It will relieve you from dry cough, sore throat, chest congestion, heart burn and bronchitis. By just using a finger, you can relieve yourself from these irritating conditions.
This pressure point is used to relieve stress, burnout, heaviness in the head and overexertion. It has also been used extensively for curing sore throats. It is found one and a half inch below the base of the skull, one and half inch away from the spine, on both the sides. The pressure point is marked Point D in the given picture. Place your index and middle fingers on these pressure points and massage them in circular movements for 7 to 8 minutes. Repeat it three times every day to get the best results.
This pressure point will help reduce coughing, thyroid imbalances, throat problems, neck and shoulder problems. Found on the vertebra that protrudes on the top when you bend the neck. Massage this point in circular motions for 2 to 3 minutes every day to get the best results.

This excellent pressure point is on the hollow under the collar bone beside the breastbone. You need to place two fingers on this point and press it for 5 minutes. Access this point whenever you have a free hand and do this regularly. It relieves throat problems, shoulder and neck pain, thyroid imbalances and coughing.
Heaven Rushing Out (Tennis Balls):
For this technique you need to use two tennis balls. Place them on a carpet and lie down with the balls between your shoulders blades at your heart level. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. While breathing press the elegant mansion pressure points. This will give a quicker effective to relieve cough.
Base of Neck:
Stay in the same position and slowly roll the tennis balls a few inches toward the base of your neck. In case the tennis balls do not stay or you don’t want to use them, place both middle fingers to press this acupressure point found at the base of the neck.
Self Massage Technique:
Sit down or stand in a relaxed position place one finger on the protrusion in the vertebrae and one on the hollow under the Adam’s apple. Press these two points gently and breathe deeply with closed eyes. This will soothe your throat and heal it completely, if practiced regularly.
A small piece of fresh ginger can be the best and most natural treatment to go with your acupressure techniques. Take a piece of ginger and wash it properly. Peel of the outer skin and cut out a very thin slice. Place this fresh ginger slice on the back of your tongue. If your throat is sensitive to the taste, you can use a much smaller and slimmer slice. Keep the ginger in the back of your tongue for ten minutes. Repeat with a fresh piece of ginger several times every day as needed.
You can even make a tea which is very soothing for your throat. Add quarter cup of chopped ginger to two cups of water. Bring it to a simmer and drink this great tea.

Caught the cold from hell,in the tropics head felt like it was bursting,nose streaming constantly,mild fever,,hoping it wouldn’t go to the chest,which it did.

Thank you so much for posting this information. I don’t get sick very often but came down with some type of a respiratory infection that left me with a very persistent, uncontrollable cough.
